Setting the path for the pdfToolbox configurators
When using pdfToolbox in the Enfocus Switch workflow system, pdfToolbox Server or CLI has to be installed on that system. When using pdfToolbox in Switch, Switch automatically finds the path to the pdfToolbox CLI on the system. However, when you install a new version of pdfToolbox, or if you install pdfToolbox CLI only after you were already using Switch, you need to manually set the path to the version of pdfToolbox CLI you want to use with Switch.
In order to adjust the path, you have to select the pdfToolbox Configurator element and click on "Set path to application...". Then, set the path to the CLI version in the file system dialog shown.

Some important remarks with this:
- Make sure you select the path to the pdfToolbox CLI application in the system dialog, not the path to pdfToolbox Desktop. You will not get a warning while setting the path, but your flow will not work correctly. The pdfToolbox CLI application lives in a folder called "cli" on both Windows and macOS.
- The way this is implemented in Switch means that you can use only one version of pdfToolbox CLI at a time. Changing the path using "Set path to application...", changes it for all configurators in all Switch flows.
- The different pdfToolbox configurators (Actions, Profiles, ColorConvert, Imposition, and Profiles) all use a different path. If you upgraded pdfToolbox CLI and you want all configurators to use the new version, you need to use the "Set path to application..." approach for each configurator individually.
What about Profiles used in Switch?
In the Profiles Configurator in Enfocus Switch, there are multiple ways to use a Profile:
- When a Profile is selected from a Library, setting the path to the new pdfToolbox version as shown above will automatically use the predefined Profile from the new installation path. The big advantage in this case is that the Profile which has been updated by callas will be used without any Flow adjustments needed.
- When a Profile is referenced via "Choose file" (or similar via a variable or script expression), the respective path to the ".kfpx"-Profile-file will remain unchanged and the processing will work as before. All pdfToolbox versions are backwards compatible - this means Profiles created by previous versions of the software will remain working. Also all kind of resources (e.g. ICC profiles or HTML-Templates) are contained in the .kfpx file (except when controlled via Variables).
